Four pathways. One capsule.
The research in children with ASD and ADHD keeps pointing at the same biology: folate that can't get into the brain, methylation that runs slow, cells short of energy, and neurotransmitters short of their cofactors. Many children eat well and take a multivitamin and still struggle with language, because standard folic acid uses the very door that antibodies can block. Speech Essentials was formulated to work on all four pathways together, with the folate form the trials used.*
A proprietary formula. Not a copy of anything.
We know of no other capsule that combines folinic acid with active B2, active B6 and two forms of B12 in one dose. The high-dose folinic powders on the market are single-ingredient with a few cofactors; children's multivitamins are broad but low-dose; prescription leucovorin is the same folate molecule as a tablet, typically made with lactose.
Speech Essentials is made with folinic acid (calcium folinate), the same folate molecule, 5-formyltetrahydrofolate, that leucovorin is based on and the compound used in the folinic-acid studies in children with ASD (Frye 2018, PMC5794882; Renard 2020). It is a dietary supplement, not a drug: not FDA-approved, not a substitute for any prescribed medication, and we make no claim of pharmaceutical equivalence. Same folate, made without lactose, in a capsule you can open and titrate.
What the trials found
Frye 2018, Molecular Psychiatry (PMC5794882). 48 children with ASD and language impairment, 12 weeks, folinic acid versus placebo: verbal-communication scores rose about 5.7 standardized points more on folinic acid, and about 7.3 in the antibody-positive subgroup, where 65% responded versus 24% on placebo.
Rossignol & Frye 2021, J Pers Med (PMC8622150). A systematic review and meta-analysis of the folinic-acid literature: meaningful gains on social-responsiveness and behaviour scales, strongest in antibody-positive children, with a favourable safety profile.
Ramaekers 2008, Dev Med Child Neurol. A milk-free diet lowered folate-receptor-blocking antibody titers in children with cerebral folate deficiency; cow's milk raised them again. It is why Speech Essentials is made without lactose.
We report what the studies found; we don't promise it for your child. Read them yourself, then talk to your clinician.
Lactose-free where the drug usually isn't
Prescription leucovorin is typically made as tablets with lactose as a filler. For a child whose folate-receptor antibodies react to milk proteins, that's the wrong excipient. Speech Essentials contains no lactose, gluten, soy or GMO ingredients, no synthetic folic acid, and comes in a vegetable capsule you can open and split for weight-based titration with your practitioner.

Frequently asked questions
What is Speech Essentials?
What is Speech Essentials?
A daily dietary supplement combining folinic acid (calcium folinate) with activated forms of B12, B6 and B2. It supports normal methylation, nervous-system function, focus and energy.* It is not a drug and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Is this the same thing as leucovorin?
Is this the same thing as leucovorin?
It contains the same folate molecule, folinic acid, also called calcium folinate or 5-formyltetrahydrofolate, that prescription leucovorin is based on; the American Academy of Pediatrics lists them as one compound. Speech Essentials is a dietary supplement, not a drug, not FDA-approved, and not a substitute for any prescribed medication.
Improved or Pro: which do I choose?
Improved or Pro: which do I choose?
Improved is the broader starting formula (adds riboflavin and a dual B12); Pro is higher-folinic and simpler, for precise titration or antibody-positive children. Start with Improved if unsure. See the full comparison on our Which one? page.

The label suggested use is 1 capsule daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. Weight-based protocols exist in the research literature, but dosing for a child should be set by your physician or a qualified practitioner.
